Le Cinématographe Lumière de Felix Blei (Grand Opera House, 14 décembre 1896)
En provenance de Chicago, le cinématographe Lumière, sous la responsabilité de Felix Blei, est annoncé pour la mi-décembre :
The Cinematograph Coming
Next Monday evening at the Grand Opera house will be seen the Schiller Speciality company, including that wonderful machine which has interested Chicago, at the Schiller theater for many weeks past, the cinematograph. The realistic scenes produced by this wonderful photographic machine are alone worth the price of admission, and no one should miss seeing it. The company is under the management of Mr. Blei, manager of the Schiller theater, Chicago.

C'est le Decatur daily Republican qui offre un compte rendu de l'inauguration :
PICTURES IN ACTION.
Marvelous Cinematographe Show at the Grand-Sherman a Wonder.
Those who failed to visit the Grand last night missed witnessing the performance of the marvelous cinematograph, the latest thing in electric photographing. A large number of pictures, life size, were thrown on the canvass and the figures in action were shown with wonderful accuracy, parties in bathing cavorting about, cats at play, the march of German and French cavalry, crowded street scene at Milan, Spain, the toredor and the funny quarrel at cards with the drowning action of the gardener's hose, all produced a wonderful effect and earned enthusiastic applause. Many of the pictures had to be repeated.
The specialties by the Vaudeville company were good, especialty the impersonations by Sydney Grant, Major Doyle and the musical grotesques. The human marvel, Sherman, the great and only contortionist, is truly an anatomical wonder. He has absolute control of all his ligaments and can twist himself all out of shape. The young man was a subject of wonder for students in a Chicago hospital for several months. At will be can disjoint any of his fingers, his elbow, shoulders, hip, knees and ankles and while walking forward can look backward with apparent ease.

Le Cinematograph des Flints ([25] décembre 1896)
En décembre, la presse annonce l'arrivée des Flints qui doivent présenter une sorte de cinématographe :
The Flints
Manager Given announces that on Christmas the Flints will be here both afternoon and evening. The Flints now have with them as instrument similar to the cinematograph and will give a pleasing exhibition in addition to their regular hypnotic performance.

Rosabel Morrison as Carmen.
The eidoloscope Is the most costly feature introduced in any theatrical performance. It is, however, worth the expense attached to it, as it has proven one the most potent, magnets that has ever offered for the approval of a wondering public. The bull fight which it reproduces in the last act of Rosabel Morrison's production is the most startling incident ever seen under similar conditions. The sensation on witnessing it is indescribable. She appears at the Grand Wednesday evening, Feb. 10.
