Surface Transit, Mexico

The scene opens with a street car, drawn by two mules, standing in the left foreground. It is an open car, the sides being protected by huge curtains to keep the hot rays of the sun from beating on the passengers. A number of passengers alight from the car and go their various ways. In the meantime the mules have turned about, so as to face the car. Their deliberation, combined with the efforts of the driver to start the mules in the right direction, is highly amusing. In order to succeed he is forced to use his whip very freely.
