L'Eventograph de M. Poole (Theatre Royal, <13> octobre 1897)
L'Eventograph de M. Poole présente des vues animées en octobre.
POOLE'S MYRIORAMA.
That the popularity of Poole's Myriorama is maintained was manifestation on Monday evening last by the large audience that was attracted to the Theatre Royal to witness the initial performance of this marvellous collection of views. The pictures were by some well-known artists, the skilfully executed dioramic changes affording much pleasure to the audience. lnterpersed with the views were several amusing items, among which were songs and duets. Mons. Martini gave an exhibition of trick riding on a bicycle, unicycle, half-wheel, and cart wheel, the wonderful manner in which he balances himself on a single wheel eliciting loud applause. Professor Carson gave an exhibition of his powers as a ventriloquist, introducing a life-size figure of Ally Sloper, invented and manipulated by himself. Mr. Bonnetty's clever performing animals were also a great feature, consisting of about a dozen different kinds of quadrupeds and birds, including foxes, jackals, ducks, cats, ram, mice, etc. The animals were all let loose in an enclosure erected on the stage, and the way the foxes walked and fed with the ducks and fowls excited admiration from all parts of the house. Mr. Herbert Wyndham's eventographe was not the least appreciated feature amongst the varieties, the Diamond Jubilee procession occupying a prominent position. Throughout the whole of the entertainment the selections by the band—a most excellent body—enlivened the proceedings. The Myriorama will occupy the Theatre for the remainder of this week, when doubtless the entertainment will be as well patronised as it deserves.

WORTHING.
PIER PAVILION. Messrs Maskelyne and Cooke’s company opened here this week with their wonderful mysteries. “Orienta,” by Mr S. Devent, formed a series of novel illusionary effects which mystified the audience. M. Gintaro received rounds of applause for his brilliant display of Japanese juggling. “The Artist’s Dream” by Mr Spurr, was well worked out by Mr W. A. Bowron and the Misses Marie Curtis and Lilian Crispin. Mr David Devant performed some remarkably clever tricks, and with his comical hand shadows kept the audience in merry mood. An amusing and sensational sketch entitled Elixir Vitae is another notable item. The highly interesting entertainment concluded with fine display of animated photographs.

FAVOURITE ENTERTAINERS.
Poole's at the Theatre.
IT can truly be said of Messrs. Harry and Fred Poole, who opened their week's engagement at the Theatre on Monday night, that there is not a dull moment during the performance.
There was a comprehensive and attractive programme presented, including those old favourites, Lieut. Chard's troupe of leaping and performing dogs. The Winn's fantoches marionettes were very laughter-provoking, and were admirably exhibited. Mr. Harry Dowsett scored a complete success with his two songs, " Come Out at Once " and "Oh ! That Pudding," the gallery using the refrain of the former song to entice an encore.
OTHER ATTRACTIVE FEATURES.
Two songs by Mis Lillie Poole and Mr. Philip Percival were also well received, and a graceful serpentine dance by La Belle Papillon was loudly applauded. Craig, Roze and Craig gave a very clever gymnastic exhibition, and Ray and Miles showed great skill in their eccentric musical ball act.
The dioramic views were very beautiful, and some wonderful scenic effects were carried out with great precision. The myriograph pictures were also exceptionally well produced. and were brought thoroughly up-to-date by the inclusion of a representation of this year's University Boat Race.
