Le Velograph propose des vues animées au St. James's Hall :
AMUSEMENTS IN PORTSMOUTH
[...]
ST. JAMES'S HALL.-An excellent entertainement is being provided here during the Christmas holidays. The Velograph is particulary good, the pictures being very clear and distinct. Mr Joseph Blascheek gives some capital humorous sketches, and is ably supported by Mr. Edwin Daisly and Miss Edith Vivian.

Les images animées de J. H. Dyer (Landport. St. James's Hall, 18->18 novembre 1901)
J. H. Dyer présente des vues animées à Landport dans le St. James's Hall :
ANIMATED PICTURES AT LANDPORT
"There's Tom Smith!" "Yes, and that's Bill Jones!" Exclamations of this kind from boys in the audience during the development of "living picture " of workmen leaving Portsmouth Dockyard formed the best testimonial that Mr. H. Dyer could have asked for exhibition of animated pictures, which commenced week's stay at the St. James's Hall, Landport, last evening. There were other local films, representing sailors at work and at play on Whale Island, a garrison parade on Southsea Common, a trip from Portsmouth to Cherbourg and back, and so forth. The miscellaneous pictures were many and varied, war films and comic films being prominent. Between the animated pictures there were portraits of celebrities shown, and pictures of interesting places. It was noticeable that of the military heroes General Sir Redvers Buller came for the loudest applause. " Bobs " himself being a measurable distance behind popularity. Fresh films will be shown during the week. The success of the performance is greatly enhanced by the singing of Miss Lottie Walter and the recitations of Mr. G. Washington Allen. Miss Walter's fine soprano was heard last night with much appreciation in "Louisiana Loo" and "The Gay Tomtit." Mr. Allen wan at his very best—and that is the very best—in "Mumford's Pavement," "The Jackdaw Rheims," and "Burdock's Goat." The two latter selections were delivered to the accompaniment of capital illustrative views.
