The picture of a pleasure boat at Brighton coming ashore created great amusement as the boatmen advanced to the trippers through the crawling surf, lifted them in their arms, and carried them ashore. As the girls were planted on terra-firma they whisked their skirts in a feminine way that electrified the audience, while ‘Arry was carried ashore swaying his stick.
