The Stolen Drink

Two ardent supporters of lzaak Walton (and Bacchus) are seated on boxes in a fisherman's punt moored in rnidstream, and between them is a gallon jar of refreshment. One is more than half asleep when the other steals a pull at the beer jug. But his comrade wakes in time to catch him at it. Both have presumably arrived at the quarrelsome stage of inebriation, for a fight ensues, during which both fishermen fall overboard with their coveted jar. The fight continues in the water until one is exhausted and has to cling to a floating box for support, while the other climbs into the punt again with the treasure, and so gets his drink after all.

Nº 72 in the catalogue, "The Stolen Drink," appears to be our first made-up picture as distinct from actuality, and it was followed by several other fifty-footers of a similar character-all taken with the black-bag camera.
