Nº 136 How it feels to be run over. 50 ft.

The Showman, vol. I, nº 2,  lundi 1er octobre 1900, p. iii.

How it Feels to Be Run Over

The eccentric artist Weirtz has powerfully depicted the supposed feelings of a decapitated head, but it has remained for the Cinematographer to show large audiences what it feels like to be run over. In this very sensational picture a pretty country road is seen, and in the distance a dogcart travelling at a fair speed. The road is narrow, but he cart successfully passes, and as the dust which it raised clears away a motor car is seen approaching very rapidly.

The Era, Londres, 22 décembre 1900, p. 28.

Écrasé par un automobile

Se promenant à la campagne le spectateur voit arriver un automobile, les voyageurs lui font signe de s'écarter, il est atteint par l'automobile et éprouve la même sensation que s'il avait été écrasé.

How it Feels to Be Run Over

The eccentric artist Weirtz has powerfully depicted the supposed feelings of a decapitated head, but it has remained for the cinematographer to show large audiences what it feels like to be run over. In this very sensational picture a pretty country road is seen, and in the distance a dog-cart travelling at a fair speed. The road is narrow, but he cart successfully passes, and as the dust which it raised clears away a motor car is seen approaching very rapidly indeed. Perhaps it is the dust of the precious vehicle, or perhaps sheer carelessness on the part of the driver, but he does not see the obstruction in the road until it is too late to steer past it. The car comes foreward at tremendous speed, and the occupants, realising the danger, get wildly excited in their efforts to clear the obstruction. The steersman makes one or two frantic swerves and is seen to apply the brake with all his might, but to no purpose, the car dashes full into the spectator, who sees "stars" as the picture comes to an end.
