BENDIGO
Jean-Claude SEGUIN
THE KINETOSCOPE.— Edison's latest invention, the marvellous kinetoscope, after a highly successful season of 14 weeks in Melbourne, will be exhibited in Bendigo for one week, commencing to-morrow (Tuesday) at the Albion Chambers, View street, next door to the Royal Princess Theatre. This remarkable machine excites the wonder and admiration of everyone. Although the observer is actually gazing at a series of photographers, the mechanical arrangement is such that he sees pigmy (sic) presentments of human figures in motion, as in life, clear, distinct, and indeed perfect. The smiths at the forge wielding the glowing iron is a favorite scene with the patrons of the Kinetoscope. Under the beat of the sledges the iron is seen to gradually change color and shape, while the sparks fly off "like chaff from a threshing floor." and from the forge-fire the smoke floats lazily upwards. The actress at rehearsal, bending, bounding, and posing; the Greco-Roman wrestlers, and the main of game cocks all excite interest from their absolute naturalism.

There are five machines on exhibition in the Albion Chambers, were Mr. Charles MacMahon has located his show, each of which has a reparate subject. In the first there is Carmencita, the Spanish dancer, who commands an enormous sway in America. The Kinetoscope gives such a wonderful series of views, that her smile is reproduced, the waving and kissing of her hands, the shaking of the skirts and the whole of her postury being so natural that one imagines he is gazing on the performance of the dancer herself.

The Bendigo Independent, Bendigo, jeudi 12 novembre 1896, p. 1.
Les séances ont lieu au Temperance Hall :
The Cinematograph.—This wonderful instrument will be shown at the Temperance Hall, View street, to-morrow evening at 8 o’clock. The invention is a marvellous one, and it is well worthy of the small price charged for admission. The pictures shown are said to be wonderfully life-like.
The Bendigo Independent, Bendigo, vendredi 13 novembre 1896, p. 2.
THE CINEMATOGRAPH.-The exhibition of living photographs by means of this wonderful invention has been postponed till to-morrow evening.

THE CINEMATOGRAPHE, which was advertised to be on view in the Temperance Hall on Saturday night, for some unexplained reason was not to be found.

THE CINEMATOGRAPH.-An exceptional attraction will be presented to theatre goers on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, when the above marvellous machine will be shown for the first time in Bendigo, in conjunction with the Newbury Spada Company. Mr. Thomlinson, the representative, arrived late last night to make the necessary arrangements for the company's visit. Particulars will shortly be advertised.
Bendigo Advertiser, Bendigo, jeudi 26 novembre 1896, p. 2.
THE CINEMATOGRAPHE. The above wonderful invention will be exhibited at the Royal Princess Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings next in conjunction with the Newbury-Spada Company. As this will be the first occasion on which the Cinematographe will be presented to the Bendigo public the theatre will no doubt be taxed to its utmost holding capacity.
[...]
All the necessary arrangements have been completed for the supply of the electric light for the two evenings on which the Cinematographe will be on view, and which is a necessary adjunct to the successful working of the machine. The people of Bendigo may therefore rely on having the same perfect representations as those which have charmed the patrons of the Opera House, Melbourne, during the past three months. The plan for reserved seats is at Messrs. Sutton and Co.
