English Troops Boarding Transport

In this picture we see a continuous line of soldiers ascending the gangplank leading to the deck of the transport. Each man takes with him his equipment which is required in active service, and they give us the impression, as they climb the steep incline, that the load is anything but light. At the rate which they go aboard, the steamer will have her full quota, and she will soon cast off her lines for the scene of struggle for victory. Some will return with promotion and honors, while others will fall in defense of their country's cause.
