Unveiling Rochambeau Statue, Washington, D.C.

[Taken in front of the the grand stand erected for viewing this great international event. The scene opens with a parade of mounted police of the District of Columbia, followed by the Cavalry of Fort Meyer, Va., and mounted members of the Diplomatic Corps of all nations, the Militia of the District of Columbia bringing up the rear. In the reviewing stand can be seen the members of the Rochambeau party, President Roosevelt and other notables].

Unveiling Rochambeau Statue
The unvailing of the bronze statue of Rochambeau in Washington yesterday, as reported in detail in today's news columns was preceded by a number of ceremonies and receptions In honor of the visiting French mission which included the present Count and Countess Rochambeau and the Marquis de Lafayette The visitors arrived in New York on the Touralne May 17, and were entertained there by Cornelius N. Bliss. French battleship Gaulois arrived at Annapolis Wednesday, greeted by United States squadron, and President Roosevelt received the mission on same day. On Thursday a pilgrimage to Mount Vernon was made by the visitors and on Friday a reception was held on board the Gaulois at Annapolis. The statue which was executed by Fernand Hamar, cost the Government $22,500.
