Le cinématographe de Paul Robello (Stewart's Hall, 17 février 1897)

HUNTLY.
CINEMATOGRAPH ENTERTAINMENT.-On Wednesday afternoon and evening Messrs Walker & Co., Bridge Street, Aberdeen, gave cinematograph entertainments in Stewart's Hall. The first was for school children, and was well patronised, and at night the large building was packed. That the entertainment was in all respects an unqualified success, and gave great satisfaction, goes without saying. Nearly two dozen moving pictures were shown on the screen, and all called forth hearty plaudits. Amongst those specially to be admired were "Sea Bathing," "Rescuing of horses from a burning stable," "The Fire Brigade," "Church Parade," and "Boys at Leap Frog." The floral and other tableaux were no less admired or enjoyed. and two sets representing a village church and Rock of Ages were exceptionally fine. The two last named had subdued organ accompaniment, which gave a delightfully realistic effect. De Jameson's raid, with its instructive lecture by Mr Hamish Beveridge, was much appreciated. The lanterns were manipulated with skill by Mr Paul Robello and Mr William Macdonald.
