Le Zoegraph de la Modern Marvel Company (Masonic Hall, 15-16 mars 1897)
Le Zoegraph de la Modern Marvel Company dont l'un des animateurs est Thomas James West présente des vues animées en mars :
INTERESTING ENTERTAINMENT AT DINGWALL. A unique and interesting entertainment was given in the Masonic Hall, Dingwall, on Monday and Tuesday evening, the Modern Marvel Company, Edinburgh. The directors of this company have sent two competent gentlemen through the provinces in order to exhibit all the latest scientific discoveries. At the outset of the entertainment on Tuesday evening, a concise dioramic demonstration of the heavenly bodies were given, and this was followed by the Zoegraph—an instrument based on the principle of the Cinewatograph —throwing on the screen a rapidly succeeding series of the varied kinds of pictures, several of which kept the audience in convulsions of laughter, while the more prominent characters on many of Shakespeare’s plays were also beautifully depicted. The story of Dr Nansen and the “Fram,” illustrated by several excellent Arctic scenes, was one of the features of the entertainment. Photographs by the X Rays also proved an interesting item, and at the conclusion of the entertainment practical demonstrations of the Rontgen Rays were given. A photograph of the right arm of Sergeant Morrison, Dingwall, a Crimean veteran, was taken, as it is believed there is some foreign body embedded in the flesh. After the Rays were applied for about three minutes, the plate was handed to Mr. Munro, photographer, for development. The result, however, was disappointing, and was, no doubt, due to the atmosphere.
