Le cinématographe de John Mackenzie (Schoolhouse, 23 mars 1900)
John Mackenzie organise une projection cinématographique :
STRATHERRICK-ENTERTAINMENT.-An excellent cinematograph exhibition was given in the Schoolhouse, Errogie, on the evening of Friday last by Mr Mackenzie, Inverness, under the auspices of the Valley of the Ness Habitation of the Primrose League. These was a crowded house, and the audience was quite enthusiastic over the programme. Captain Grant, Ballindarroch, the hon. secretary, read a short paper giving an admirable sketch of the cause of the present war in South Africa, and was warmly thanked for his lucid explanation. There-after Mr Mackenzie delighted the company with realistic moving pictures. It would be invidious to comment on particular items where all reached such a high level of excellence, but the representations of Lord Lovat's mounted Scouts and the Seaforths were enthusiastically received. The various commanding officers in South Africa, and especially General Macdonald, received quite an ovation. We venture to say that Mr Mackenzie's manipulation of the cinematograph and the display are as near perfection as is likely to be attained in this branch of optics for a considerable time. Mr Ormond, the local warden, proposed votes of thanks to Mr Mackenzie, Captain and the Hon. Mrs Grant, and Mr Munro, Dochgarroch, assistant secretary, for their presence and trouble in connection with the entertainment, and the singing of the National Anthem concluded what was probably the best evening's entertainment ever given in the Strath.
