Le Cinematoscope de Fred Harvard (Empire Theatre, <10> août 1897
Fred Harvard présente son Cinematoscope à l'Empire Theatre en août :
EMPIRE THEATRE.
For this week's entertainment the chief attraction is the special and expensive engagement of Harvard's Cinematoscope, showing for the first time in Barrow animated pictures of the Jubilee Procession in London, by a new process. A prominent feature in connection with this cinematoscope is that there are no intervals between the different scenes of the one picture, the whole procession being given without any breaks. Amongst the scenes included are the Naval Brigade, Lancers, Guards, Scotch Guards (or Greys) and bands, Irish contingent, the Queen taking the sword from the Lord Mayor at Law Courts, Princess' carriage and equerries, and Colonial mounted contingent, &c., all of which were, on Monday evening, loudly applauded. Mr. Johnstone should have bumper houses every night to witness the spectacle. Another very important visit this week is that of Mdlle. Esmeralda, C.D.D., R.A.M., "The Queen of Song." This talented lady has a splendid voice, and sings Mexican, operatic, and Tyrolean songs. She is a popular favourite, especially in her latest success, "The Sculptor's Dream," in which she is assisted by Juan Burtoni. The other members of the company are all clever artistes in their own special line of business, and include Little Minnie Pearson, sweet soprano vocalist; Mr. Harry Fielding, vocal character comedian; Messrs. Zaro and Arno, eccentric Chinese, and premier burlesque double horizontal bar performers; Mr. J. A. Wilson, "the Black Oracle," eccentric negro comedian, banjoist, and dancer; Miss Kate Devere, comedienne and coon vocalist; and Mr. W. H. Smart, "the Phunny Phellow," eccentric character vocalist and dancer. The band, under the direction of Mr. Round, plays catchy music during the intervals.
