Una nueva función tiene lugar el 23 de agosto:
Last night, Professor Filippi gave the first of a series of exhibitions of Lumiere's cinematograph in the Town Hall, New Amsterdam, before a large gathering composed of both front and back seat ticket holders. Twenty-four pictures, all of them splendidly exhibited, were presented, and evoked much applause from the audience. A battery of eighty cells is used to produce the electric light with which the pictures are exhibited. The second exhibitions will be given this evening when there will be a change of programme, and the prices of admission will be reduced.

Finalmente, el 28 de agosto tiene lugar la última funcion:
PROFESSOR FILLIPI [sic] gave his last exhibition of Lumiere's Cinematograph in the Town Hall on Monday evening, when the hall was crowded. A very long and interesting programme was provided, and the performance was much enjoyed. The exhibition advertised to take place on Sunday evening was abandoned, out of respect to objections raised by some of the Councillors. The Professor and his company returned yesterday to Georgetown, whence they will proceed to Surinam. They have had a successful season in New Amsterdam, and are well pleased with the results.

THE CINEMATOGRAPH ENTERTAINMENTS.
Messrs Freitas and Heilbron gave their first cinematograph exhibition in the Town Hall, on Wednesday evening, in the presence of a large gathering. Twenty-seven pictures which were shown were all mirth-provoking and evidently to the liking of the audience. Ample amusement was obtained from the exhibition of the following pictures.-"Seminary girls" "Little Jake and big Dutch girl" "Imperial Japanese dance" and "German kiss at masked ball." Among the familiar pictures that were thrown on the sheet was "Dreyfus in his cell." The second entertainment was given on Thursday evening, when the proprietors succeeded in drawing a much larger house than on the previous evening. The pictures elicited the unstinted applause of the audience. "Dreyfus before the Judges" Embarkment of Sir Redvers Buller at Soughampton and inspecting troops on board of the Donottar Castle" created a good deal of mith. The pictures are of the most excellent quality and of beautiful description.

Dos funciones están previstas en el Town Hall:
MR. L.H.W. Mann came up on Monday and will give two cinematograph entertainments in the Town Hall. The first will be held this evening and the second on the following night. The views are up-to-date, and comprise the latest views of the South African War, two of which are of real engagements. The views are from the Warnick [sic] Trading Company, of London, who have two operators at the front. The admission fee is placed within the reach of every one, so we trust Mr. Mann will have a full house on each evening.

CINEMATOGRAPH ENTERTAINMENT
Professor Filippi who is not unknown to Berbicians will give a couple of cinematograph entertainments in the Town Hall, beginning to-night. The views which are all of the first classe are sure to prove both attractive and interesting, and we trust there will be bumper houses. Among the views to be shown to-night will be Queen Victoria's funeral. Further particulars are given in an advertisement in this issue, and handbills with programme will be distributed in the course of to-day.

CINEMATOGRAPH ENTERTAINMENT
During the latter part of the week Professor Filippi of the "Art Company" has been providing townsfolk with excellent entertainment with Lumière's cinematograph. The first performance came off in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. Notwithstanding the rain that fell early in the evening, there was a good attendadnce. Some interesting and amusing pieces were shown, among them being: Lady cyclists at Milan, the Jubilee procession, Queens Victoria's funeral, the last view showing the coffin on the gun-carriage (a sad and striking spectacle), pageant entering Hyde Park, and the cortège arriving at Trinity pier, where the coffin was taken off the gun carriage. Another interesting piece was the betrayal of Christ, this being one of the sixteen pictures comprising the Passion Play. The "Bitter Sweet Letter" was the cause of much laughter, as also the pieces "Undressing," "A Modern William Tell," "The Parisian dance," "The Mysterious Cavalier," and "The Interrupted Serenade." The Town Band provided the music.
On Thurday night the Hall was crowded. The views on the first part of the programme had reference mostly to the Paris exposition. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was also shown with becoming impression. The picture of the Carnival at Venice was greeted with loud applause and the audience asked for more.
Last night there was a large and appreciative audience who enjoyed the interesting performance immensely, and with whom Professor Filippi is quite a favourite.
To-night there will be another performance-the last. The Berbice Gazette, New Amsterdam, sábado 31 de agosto de 1901, p. 3.
