Le Cinematograph (19-[28] août 1901)
Un cinematograph fonctionne à l'occasion des célébrations de Pereahera :
THE PERAHERA FESTIVITIES AT KANDY.
The annual perahera, which commenced on Monday, the 19th instant, has as usual, attracted a large number of visitors tot he Mountain Capital. The hotels are already nearly full, and every day brings in fresh batches of visitors from all parts of the Island. The perahera started with 21 elephants this time, instead of fifteen as was the case in previous years. On Tuesday night thirty-one elephants, with the dancers, tom-toms, and the Raternahatmeyeas, formed the procession. It is expected than the number of elephants will increase to about forty on the last day of the procession. Among the attractions of the perahera are the numerous petty bazaars spread all around the Esplanade. The seeni bole boy is omnipresent every night. A bioscope company, a cinematograph exhibition, the steam riding gallery, and a "ring exercise" are the chief amusement provided.
