L'animotiscope de Lyman H. Howe (Lutheran Church, 28 décembre 1896)
L'animotiscope de Lyman H. Howe présente des vues animées en décembre:
THE ANIMOTISCOPE.
Filled Congregational Church and "Pleased the Audience.
The animotiscope made its first appearance in this city, Thursday night. The commodious First Congregational Church was filled until standing room was at a premium. Prof. Howe's work with both phonograph and the latest wonder, the animotiscope, was of the highest character, and gave the most complete satisfaction. The new invention had not been seen by most of the audience, and they were enthusiastic in their applause. The professor introduced his treat by a few descriptive remarks in which he said that when it was found that photographs could be taken instantaneously inventors continued to progress until now 46 photographs are taken each second, on celluloid tape, and the result is a living reproduction of life and motion.
The scene "At Manhattan Beach," the "Morning Bath " and the fire scenes are awe-inspiring funny and thrilling in the order named. The first production was a New York scene, and the moving of the cable cars, the trucks in the street and every motion of the horses were as realistic as life, and the evening's entertainment will long be remembered.-Middletown Daily Press. Dec, 11, 1896.
The above entertainment will be given in the Lutheran Church by the Christian Endeavor Society, on Dec. 28, at 8 o'clock P.M. Tickets for general admission 25 cents. Reserved seats 35 cents.

La presse donne un compte rendu de la soirée :
The entertainment given at the Lutheran Church on Monday night, by Prof. Howe and the new invention, the Animotiscope, was of a high order and all who failed to attend threw away an opportunity to see one of the finest entertainments witnessed in town for a long time. The life like movements of the different pictures shown, made one almost think they were real, among the most notable scenes was the Atlantic in a storm, and the thrilling escapes from fires. The audience was not as large as it should have been, but we presume many stayed away, believing it to be a magic lantern show. We understand that he will give another entertainment in town this winter, when he will no doubt be greeted with a large audience.

L'Animotiscope de Lyman H. Howe (Opera House, 26 janvier 1897)
L'animotiscope de Lyman H. Howe présente des vues animées en janvier :
ANIMOTISCOPE COMING AGAIN.
On the 28th of December a unique entertainment' was given in the Lutheran Church of this place, by Lyman H. Howe with the animotiscope and phonograph. Those who saw and enjoyed the marvelously realistic scenes and sounds, were delighted and amazed. This is not a magic lantern, as many people suppose, but is one of the wonders of the nineteenth century. With the exception of those who saw this marvelous invention when here before, it has probably never been seen by any of the residents of this town and vicinity. All objects appear to be life size. Scenes are shown as they actually transpire. Horses gallop, men run, water splashes and waves roll, smoke rises and wreathes about, and an express train, at the rate of a mile a minute, dashes rapidly by. The phonograph vividly reproduces the hissing steam and the rattle and roar of the train. Tickets, and board for reserved seats at Slate's. Reserved seats thirty-five cents ; general admission twenty-five cents. For the benefit of the Lutheran church, January 26, at the Opera House.
