AN EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT-was given at the Mall Board School on Tuesday evening by Mr. J. Dore, who has made his name famous as a photographer of lantern slides, in which he introduced what the programme not inaptly described as the wonder of the age, viz., animated photographs, the effects of which were truly marvellous and worthy of a much larger audience than was attracted thereby. An agreeable variety was given by the excellent violin playing of Mr. D. C. Wilson, who performed a capriccio by Ten Have, a selection from Il Travatore, and "Home, sweet home," in artistic style. Through some misunderstanding Mr. Wilson was unprovided with an accompanist, but Mr. W. T. Russell, choirmaster of St. Thomas's, Newport, who happed to be among the audience, came forward and supplied the deficiency.
