F. W. Baker entered the industry in 1897 in the pioneer days, joining British Mutograph and the original Biograph Syndicate. Advancing with the rapid growth of the industry, he later joined W. Butcher and Sons, Ltd., at Camera House, Farringdon Avenue, and inaugurated their first film hire department.
