DERRYGONNELLY
Jean-Claude SEGUIN
Derrygonnelly est une ville d'Irlande.
1899
(Le Cinematographe (Orange Hall, <11 mai 1899)
Des séances de projections de vues animées ont lieu à l'Orange Hall en mai :
Entertainment at Derrygonnelly.
An entertainment of a very diversified character, which attracted a large and discerning audience, took place the other evening in the Orange Hall, Derrygonnelly. The cinematograph, which has never been seen here before, constituted the big attraction. The proceedings commenced at 8 o'clock with a representation of the death of Nelson, at which the enthusiasm of the audience knew no bounds. All sorts of moving pictures, grave and gay, were presented with faultless accuracy and great clearness of outline. To mention all the views would occupy too much space, but the launch of the Oceanic was voted tremendous; another amusing picture representing a sausage machine turning pussy cats into sausages, almost made several careful mothers of families make certain resolutions. Amongst others, which caused much merriment was a scene at a seaside lodging house, Weary Willy in the park, and a pillow fight. Band selections and songs were also given by a large phonograph, which could be distinctly heard through the spacious hall, and were listened to with rapt attention and wonder by all present.
