S A POWERFUL YOUNGSTER
He Toys with Dumbbells and Carries 800 Pounds on his Neck and Shoulders
Prof Attila who developed and first brought Eugene Sandow the strong nan to the notice of the public has got another pupil who bids fair to create a sensation by his feats of strength His name is Henry Weimar 18 years old, a son of a well-to-do German butcher says the New York Sun He has been receiving lessons from Attila for only six months. He is an unassuming well-built lad for his weight 115 pounds. In order to test his strength Weimar gave a private exhibition at Attila’s studio 248 East Twenty-third other morning. A few friends were present. The first thing he did was to lift a dumb-bell weighing 145 pounds with one hand from the floor, holding it out at arm’s length and then putting it over his head. He held it in thin position for several minutes without any difficulty […] up with both hands two 56-pound weights and raised them in the air. Resting the weights on the back of his wrists, he lowered and raised them alternately with ease. Harness, to which was attached six from hooks, was placed around the lad’s neck and shoulders Dumbbells, weights, and bars were suspended upon the hooks, three of which rested on his chest and three upon his back Then a two handed bar dumbbell weighing 125 pounds was thrown across his neck Two men hung with their arms upon the ends of the bar and pressed with all the strength at their command. Weimar withstood the strain without exertion. The combined weight which he carried aggregated over 800 pounds Weimar then juggled a 125 pound bar with one hand. Attila wants to back the boy against any lad of his weight in the world for from 8500 to $1000 a side, Jarrow, the strong boy preferred.
