Reception of The Mayor and Corporation

Reception of the Mayor and Corporation

The Queen’s carriage is here seen drawn up in front of the space where the Lord Mayor and Corporation are waiting to present Her Majesty with the keys of the City. This ceremony is proceeded with amidst enthusiastic cheering on the part of the crowd all round, which, with the restless movements of the many horses and the continual fluttering of the bunting in the breeze, makes up a scene full of animation and life. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Queens’s carriage drives off and is immediately followed by mounted soldiers who bring up the rear of the procession.
